Swype SIP on the Omnia 2

swype Text input on touch screen devices, no matter what OS flavour, has always been a point of contention. Which app, which OS does it better? Well how about a mix of T9 tech with a qwerty SIP, and some sliding as well. According to the comments on the original TechCrunch post, Swype has been in the Apple app store for quite a while, and I don’t know how much attention it has garnered. It’s not like versions of sliding keyboard tech haven’t emerged before,  The combination of the T9 slide and word completion is the key, is what makes this exciting.

Check the leaked video comparison, I think it may be a bit biased, but this looks like a great new text input solution for touch screen devices.

If this is the evolution of T9 tech to some thing that everyone can be familiar with and use, I’m all for it. Admittedly it probably takes a lot of practice to use it like in the video, but if this will rid the world of those awful 16 key phone keyboards, I’m all for it ;)
